Tour Plan

Day 1 Tour Itinerary

Morning | Private Hotel Pickup

Your Legacy of Egypt Tours representative and expert Egyptologist guide will meet you at your hotel in Aswan in a modern, air-conditioned vehicle. Enjoy a comfortable transfer toward the High Dam area, where your adventure begins.

The Temple of Kalabsha: A Roman Tribute on Lake Nasser

Access this majestic site by a scenic motorboat ride across the Nile to its new location on the western bank near the High Dam.

  • Historical Depth: Originally founded by Thutmose II and Amenhotep II, the temple was magnificently restored by Roman Emperor Octavius Augustus in 30 BC.

  • Architectural Highlights: Marvel at the well-preserved reliefs of the sun god Mandulis (Merul) and the iconic carving of Horus emerging from the reeds.

  • Panoramic Views: Take in breathtaking vistas of the Aswan High Dam and the vast expanse of Lake Nasser from the temple’s ancient pylons.

The Nubian Museum: A Sanctuary of Culture & Gold

Return to central Aswan to visit the International Museum of Nubia, a masterpiece of modern architecture and winner of the Aga Khan Award.

  • The "City of Gold": Learn why the region was named "Nbu" (Gold) and explore thousands of artifacts recovered from temples and tombs before the flooding of the valley.

  • Immersive Displays: Walk through life-sized dioramas illustrating traditional Nubian life, from prehistoric settlements to modern-day culture.

  • Expert Insight: Your guide will provide the vital context of UNESCO's 1960s rescue mission, which saved these treasures from being lost forever.

Afternoon | Return Transfer

After a morning of discovery, Legacy of Egypt Tours will provide a comfortable transfer back to your hotel or preferred location in Aswan.

Note: To ensure the highest quality of service and logistics, we recommend booking with Legacy of Egypt Tours at least 48 hours in advance.
